CURRENT FIELD LOCATION
Johnson Field is located on about 85 acres on the Northeast corner of the intersection of I-15 and State Highway 76. We are about 16 miles North of Escondido on I-15. From I-15, take Highway 76 East towards Pala less than 1/2 mile and turn North on Pankey Rd. Enter the Palomar Flying site through the green gate. On weekdays, members must have a key to unlock the gate. The gate is open on weekends and holidays from about 8am to 1pm or when events are scheduled.
The public is welcome to come and visit us during those hours. If you are interested in joining, come out anytime – mornings are the most active period. We have separate flying sites on the property devoted to RC airplanes and RC helicopters. View video here.
We have been flying at our current location since 1997. We are seeking additional flying locations for our club members due to the rapid development of housing and a Community College in close proximity to our field. We will be losing our flying site in a few months because of this development so if you know of some open land that might be suitable in the North San Diego County area, we want to hear about it! For further information, please contact Steve Gebler at (760) 519-8163.

Scott “Yeti” Ralston has been doing an amazing job of developing the infrastructure for our new field. While I was at the field on Friday morning to take these photos and video, Charles delivered the weed barrier. A bunch of the road base was delivered yesterday with more to come. The Geotex material will be delivered next week.
Charles will be requesting volunteers to come to the field next Thursday at 5 PM to help lay out the Geotext material. We will meet in the late afternoon/evening to avoid the heat of the day. We will need 10+ helpers to make light work of stretching out the material.
Way to go, Scott!!
